In 2026, the construction holiday falls for most provinces from Monday 6 July to Friday 24 July inclusive. Limburg starts a week earlier: from 29 June to 17 July. The canton of Lokeren deviates and starts on 13 July. This collective holiday applies to construction workers under PC 124 and is recommended, not legally mandatory.

Yes, if you fall under PC 124 and your employer applies the collective closure, they can force you to take your vacation days during the construction holiday. This obligation applies only to blue-collar workers, not to white-collar workers. Deviating is only possible with a written agreement between you and your employer. Some companies allow their blue-collar workers to take individual leave at other times, but that is rather the exception.
